Post Production 1-Editing

After the peer reviews, we realized how many people told us that our magazines don't match very well and we need to change something. My partner, Katie, and I worked on editing the fonts because those were the parts that needed to be fixed the most. We found a font that works for both of our magazines and they are starting to look a little bit more similar. It was difficult to find a font that worked with both of ours though. We worked side by side and did our best to make these magazines look similar. However, Katie and I are still working on making our feature article layout similar. After we finished working together, I decided to work a little bit on lengthening my feature article. I also might add a couple more really good pictures in order to draw in the audiences attention and keep their attention. Working on this magazine has definitely been tough, but we are making these magazines come together. Once we fully complete both of our magazines and making the layout similar, t...

Peer Review

This week I presented my magazine midterm project on InDesign to my whole class. For the most part, I think it went okay. There is definitely some things I need to work on though. My peers said that they would like my partner, Katie, and I to work on matching our magazines a little and to have more similar fonts and colors. It makes sense because we are partners and we need to make sure our magazines match in a way. Also, my classmates said they liked my cover picture and how the colors of all the fonts tied together. They also said they liked my pictures throughout my whole magazine. On the content page, one person said to fix my page numbers such as, don't put pg.10-12 just put pg.10. The group did like that Katie and I's content page was set up the same. One of my classmates, said to maybe make a teen magazine and a regular magazine, but we decided not to.. My peers did say my magazine looks like it would attract teenagers to young adults which is what I was going for. Most...

1st Draft: Limitless Escape

Image
The background color of all the pages was light blue, but when uploaded onto blogger, it took the background color away and will not change.  I turned my magazine midterm project in and I had some difficulties that cannot seem to be fixed. The background of all my magazine pages were a light, baby blue color. I asked multiple classmates, my partner and family members to try and figure it out, but nothing worked. I would prefer it had the light blue color as the background, but the white will work too. I am upset that it didn't work and didn't upload properly but I guess the white background will have to do. I tried saving it as a JPG and PNG, but neither of those worked and it still continued to delete the background color. I unchecked and checked different boxes to see if it would change anything and nothing changed.  My partner, Katie, has completed and submitted her magazine on blogger. She is making sure she has all her blog posts done for the midterm, then she will...

Production 7- Final Touches/Reviews

I am reviewing my magazine and trying to find someone to do pier reviews. My peer came and looked and reviewed my magazine and suggested that I switch some of my pictures around and use a different picture as the main image. She gave me a reason on why I should do that and it makes complete sense. She said that the picture I had chosen did not match the the selling line, "Escape from Reality", completely. It made sense, so I swapped it with another picture I had. I had one of my classmates, Maya, review my magazine and she said she liked it and that my pictures were well done. I then reviewed hers and her magazine looked amazing. My partner, Katie, also had the teacher review hers and the teacher suggests she touched up her content page so it was more bright and not as "boxy". She also had Maya review her magazine and she liked the way Katie did hers and her pictures.  So this week, we got reviews and advice and added the final touches and changes to out magazine.

Production 6- Finished with Magazine

This week I did a lot of work and was very productive. I have completed all of my magazine. I might do a few touch ups but for the most part I am done. This week I learned a lot about InDesign and how to use it. I had some difficulties in the beginning with certain parts, but I learned how to do it with the help of some classmates. I did change some fonts, font colors and background colors because what I had planned originally did not look as well when I put it on InDesign. I think what I changed, looks better then what I had originally planned. My partner, Katie, has been very productive this week and has also finished up her magazine and is looking over her whole magazine to see if she can improve anything and make it perfect. She did have a few difficulties in the beginning as well but we both managed to figure it out and improve our skills. Overall, both of our products ended up coming together and they both fit our travel theme.

Production 5- Working on Magazine

I have completed the cover of my magazine and I am almost done with the content page. I am changing some of the fonts and colors because I realized what I had originally had planned doesn't work well with the fonts I chose. Some pictures do have to be moved around, but for the most part, it is going well. I am still working on the backgrounds and choosing what colors and designs look best with my pictures. My partner, Katie, has started her magazine and she only has a little bit left. She has done every page, but she still needs to do some touch ups to fully complete it. She put all her pictures in the magazine and I think they look really good. My goal is to try and complete this whole magazine by Friday, 1/15.

Production 4- Finished Feature Article and Uploading Pictures

Image
I have been working on my feature article throughout the last couple days and I think it came along pretty well. I incorporated two interviews into the feature article. I am uploading all my pictures onto InDesign. I have started designing my magazine and making it look the way I like. However, I am changing a couple things that I originally planned. I am changing the colors of my fonts because the blue color I had originally planned on using is not working for me. I don't like the way it looks on the picture I decided to use. Also, I am changing the font because again it does not look good with my picture. Some pictures might get changed but I am still unsure. I will figure out what looks best and compliments everything together. My partner, Katie, has all her pictures uploaded and is working on the cover page of her magazine on InDesign. I think her work is starting to look really good. She is close to be finished with her feature article and she incorporated an interview.
