Target Audience (Be specific) |
It is geared towards adults and people who want to travel and go on
adventures. |
|
What is your concept? (Be thorough & specific. Review the links
on Blackboard) |
The concept of this magazine is to give budget friendly and luxury
trips. The different trips could be in state, out of state or even out of the
country. We will ask show hacks on how to save money and airport hacks. For
this first magazine, we will be doing a camping trip to Yellowstone National
Park. Camping is better idea then flying to a different state right now
because it is safer, but still fun. We will show the 12 different campgrounds
they have to offer and a couple of the camp sites. The magazine will also
show different option to camp (tent, camper, car). We will provide different
activities to do there and ways to still maintain social distancing. |
|
How did you conceive the idea for this concept? |
We both enjoy traveling and going on adventures. When we were
researching and reviewing magazine, the travel ones intrigued us the most. |
|
What do you believe is unique about your concept? |
I think our magazine will be unique because we will provide different
trips and adventures to fit your budget. We will also incorporate safer
options to travel because of the coronavirus now. |
|
Why do you believe this product will be of interest to your audience? |
This product will be of interest because it fits different budgets
and different types of adventures whether they are big or small. Exp. Small
adventure would be kayaking, a park, beaches and hiking. Exp. Big adventure
would be zip lining, different tours (ghost tours, boat tours), and skiing. |

FEEDBACK RECEIVED FROM PEERS
|
·
Incorporate different airport flights and
pricing, so that it can fit anyone’s budget. ·
Try to add different forms of transportation
because some don’t like flying ·
Make a list of different places and prices to
fly, ex: New York 350, Miami 120 ·
Do a different destination each month of
“subscription” to keep the audience intrigued and entertained. ·
We will not be doing a flight magazine for
this magazine because it is not super safe to be flying right now. |
This week in class we pitched our ideas for our portfolio project. We received feed back from our fellow classmates. They seemed to enjoy it. One of the pieces of feedback that our class mates gave us was to provide different forms of transportation. I thought this was actually very important to require because some people can't afford flights or because of coronavirus, some people would rather drive than fly. It made an impact on our vision because now we know something that might make the magazine more enjoyable and the concept stand out. In the article "The Abundance, Joy, Beauty, Persistence, Power, and Potential of Independent Publishing: A CONVERSATION WITH SIX BLACK EDITORS.", it states, "Much of what I want to do as an editor is to stretch our ability to see beauty and potential in new places and ways." Editors are trying to find new potential writers and new creative ideas to bring to the table. If there are ten different magazines, all about the same thing, not everyone is going to read it because it is basic and repetitive. Also stated in "The Abundance, Joy, Beauty, Persistence, Power, and Potential of Independent Publishing: A CONVERSATION WITH SIX BLACK EDITORS" "This almost-ninety-year-old institution has been publishing, without fail, four issues a year." If you edit everything well and have a really detailed and intriguing concept, the magazine will do well. That's why for our magazine, we are going to make it super intriguing toward a specific audience and allow them to engage in the magazine in some way.
With our concept, we are going to try to make a new and creative design. From "U.S. Magazine Industry - Statistics & Facts(Statista)" it states "Consumers have become accustomed to the advantages offered by internet-based alternatives, making it increasingly difficult for print newspapers and magazines to keep their audiences." Magazine brands are going to need to incorporate new ideas to keep the magazine's audience. For our travel magazine, we are going to incorporate designs that stand out more than the other travel magazines. According to MAGAZINE PUBLISHING TRENDS FOR 2020 – THE ALLIANCE OF PRINT AND DIGITAL(www.ovidbell.com) "Delivering that content to a target audience is key." We need to create a strong target audience, so the magazine will stay relevant and people will still enjoy it. Also stated in "MAGAZINE PUBLISHING TRENDS FOR 2020 – THE ALLIANCE OF PRINT AND DIGITAL(www.ovidbell.com)" it states "Allow subscribers to pick and choose the digital content they want and pay for it piecemeal." Allowing your audience to pick different topics keeps them engaged and more intrigued in your magazine. In our magazine we will try to incorporate new designs that aren't like the other magazines.
